The Sadistic Scribbler is an artist & photographer who earned a living as a web designer and IT consultant between jobs as a teacher. As well as Time magazine's 2006 Person of the Year, he is a baritone, but often sings tenor, and goes by the name of Jan Szafranski.
Starting out as a comic book artist (first underground in the '70s to mainstream in the late '80s) before teaching art & photography to teens, he moved into computers, web-design, photo-manips, etc. before returning to teaching in 2002.
In 2006 he lost his sight but regained it, only to start on a slow physical decline… with pain, fatigue, vision & cognitive problems, and tremors & spasms. Now sorta-retired because of the symptoms, he only manages the odd work when in remission. This website is a portal to pages and sites that feature his work.
